1 in 5 families are affected by mental illness in our nation, and over 4 million New Yorkers live in a community that does not have enough mental health professionals. We have some work to do! With the help of our Off The Mask Model Ambassadors and supporters like you, we can continue our fight to change this statistic. By working together we share the message that all people, no matter where they are on their mental health journey, are deserving of support, resources, health, and fulfillment supported by a community that cares.
Founded in 2018, Off The Mask is dedicated to raising awareness, breaking stigma, and ending the silence surrounding mental illness. Just as Monet's paintings reveal beauty through layers of color and light, Off The Mask encourages individuals to reveal their true selves. Too often, individuals with mental health conditions feel compelled to hide behind a mask. At Off The Mask, we encourage everyone to shed these masks and embrace their authentic selves. By sharing our stories, we help others feel less stigmatized and more embraced by their community. Each year NAMI-NYS is joined by passionate Model Ambassadors who join our community a story tellers and models apart of the Off The Mask Art and Fashion Show.
