I am Alisha Chase, owner of Chase Smith Family Funeral Homes with 3 chapels in Saratoga County. I've contributed on the Off The Mask Committee for NAMI-NYS and am excited that it's my second year raising money and awareness for mental illness on the runway.
Support is a huge facet of my life within my church, community and business. As a funeral director, I honor the role of guiding families through their darkest hours but living in grief is not easy. I manage my own mental health needs and encourage others to seek the same by finding a therapist to connect with, a life coach and even a medication management doctor. I am taking my mask off to show people you can still be a business owner while managing mental health issues.
My experience has been to be mindful, prioritize yourself and seek professional help.
Everyone is affected by mental challenges somehow and I wish the world to be gentler. A smile or a hug, can go a long way!
