I’m Cassandra Rhatigan, a 21-year-old licensed veterinary technician. I am currently seeking my bachelor's degree in animal science, intending to become a veterinarian who works with all types of animals. In my free time, I love to volunteer anywhere I can all while promoting mental health/autoimmune disease awareness through my platform Survivors Wear Crowns. Even with my battles with mental health, autoimmune, and POTS, I still enjoy being outside and spending time with my many animals (4 dogs, a cat, a bearded dragon, and plenty of chickens!)
Ever since a young age, I have felt like an outsider with my diagnosis of PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Recently I have also been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (autoimmune disorder) and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), which has also put a burden on my mental health. Now I speak out for those who also felt the same way I did through my platform Survivors Wear Crowns, where I focus on helping others find their path through their daily struggles with activities they love to do, just like I did with pageants and my platform.
I am honored to be a model because as someone who struggles with mental health daily, I understand what others may be going through as well. I love helping others find their way through their dark times through activities and hobbies they enjoy already doing. I wish to be the voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves. I also wish to bring awareness to mental health and help the public better understand why mental health is important. I want to unify the public, give us one voice, and be one force that speaks for mental health across the globe.
